Dr Rahman is currently the Director of the Emergency Department at Sandringham Hospital and the Deputy Director of Operations at Alfred Health. Following graduation from medical school in Johannesburg, Dr Rahman worked in various emergency departments in the UK before settling in Australia. She completed her Emergency Training at the Alfred in 2010 and was subsequently appointed as the inaugural Trauma Fellow at the Alfred Hospital.
Since then Dr Rahman has worked as an Emergency Physician and Trauma Consultant at Alfred Health. Prior to her position as the Director of Sandringham ED, she has held the positions of Deputy Director for Quality & Risk as well as Co-Director of Emergency Medicine Training at the Alfred.
Dr Rahman has always had a special interest in trauma systems, management and in development & training. In addition to an active interest in education and quality improvement, she is invested in improving patient flow and safety within the Emergency Department setting.
